Marketing is van enorm belang bij de verkoop van een product. De marketingmix zal duidelijk maken welk product of welke dienst het bedrijf aanbiedt en welke strategie hierop aansluit.
De betekenis van marketing
Over marketing bestaan veel verschillende opvattingen. Voor de één is marketing een moderne vorm van verkoop, of een ander woord voor reclame. Verkoop en reclame zijn belangrijke aspecten van marketing, maar een goede marketingstrategie gaat veel verder. Via marktonderzoek kun je de behoeftes en wensen van de consument en klant in kaart brengen, maar ook de concurrentie kan in kaart gebracht worden. Met productontwikkeling kun je aantrekkelijke producten ontwerpen en lanceren, op basis van het juiste marktinzicht.
Het verschil tussen verkoop en marketing is de markt waar het product op wordt gebracht. Bij verkoop heeft de consument weinig tot geen keuze tot de koop, bij marketing is het doel om zoveel mogelijk in te spelen op de wensen van de klant, omdat deze juist veel keuze heeft tussen producten. Het doel van marketing is ervoor zorgen dat het product precies is wat de klant zoekt.
De marketingmix is een doeltreffend marketingbeleid, bestaand uit de zogenaamde vijf P's. Deze vijf P's zijn met elkaar verbonden, dus als de ene P verandert is de kans groot dat één van de of alle P's ook veranderen. De marketingmix bestaat uit:
Product
Dit is het product of de dienst die het bedrijf aanbiedt aan de klant. In de marketingmix geef je een specifieke uitleg van het aangeboden product of de aangeboden dienst. Deze P omvat naast het product of de dienst zelf, ook andere factoren, zoals de garantie, de verpakking, het imago, het assortiment en de service.
Prijs
Bij deze P wordt duidelijk uitgelegd welke prijs voor het product of de dienst wordt gevraagd en erg belangrijk; waarom deze prijs wordt gevraagd. Bij het vaststellen van deze prijs wordt naar meerdere factoren gekeken, zoals de kostprijs, maar ook naar de prijs van de concurrent of van de substituten. Ook wordt er gekeken naar het effect dat de prijs heeft. Een te hoge prijs zal leiden tot schrik bij de klant, maar een te lage prijs zal omzetvermindering teweeg brengen. Er moet gekeken worden naar wat het bedrijf probeert te bereiken met de prijs van het product of de dienst. Een lagere prijs zal in eerste instantie geen winst opbrengen, maar op de langere termijn zorgen voor meer omzet.
Distributie (plaats)
Bij distributie is de vraag hoe de klant aan het product of de dienst komt, via welk kanaal. De grootste succesfactor is vaak de manier waarop het bij de klant terecht komt, niet het artikel zelf. Keuzes die gemaakt kunnen worden zijn die tussen detailhandel of groothandel, welke en hoeveel verkooppunten, of gebruik gemaakt wordt van voorraden en de manier van transport.
Promotie
Bij promotie is het van belang dat goed gekeken wordt naar de wensen van de klant. Elk bedrijf heeft haar eigen doelgroep, waar duidelijk en rechtlijnig op ingespeeld moet worden. De potentiële kopers moeten op het product gewezen worden, dit wordt gedaan met doeltreffende communicatie. Deze communicatie omvat reclame, sponsoring, promoties, direct marketing, persoonlijke verkoop en public-relationsactiviteiten.
Personeel
Bij deze P stel je vast hoeveel personeel het bedrijf in dienst heeft. De kwaliteit van dit personeel is zeer van belang.
