WB DVD Package Art, SCOOBY-DOO: SHAGGY'S SHOWDOWN Direct-To-Video Feature. Adobe Photoshop. This was yet another "hurry-it-up" assignment, for freelance. Working from a sketch furnished by Warner Home Video, I was required to render the Scooby-Doo gang, and the Dapper Jack ghost. Even though Daphne, Velma, and Fred are mostly concealed within the stagecoach, they insisted that I draw each of these characters full figure (which I included on individual layers). Typically, this is done to provide the client with the freedom to manipulate the composition to some degree, as well as opening up the possibility of reusing each character pose elsewhere. But because of the specificity of these poses, it's difficult to fathom reusing them with much variety or quality. So, this insistence can be an understandable aggravation for the artist, but for any added compensation for the extra work.In the end, more changes were demanded by WHV. However, I was, regrettably, not involved in that, possibly due to the frantic time schedule. Yee-haw!

This looks helpful, esp the Unlimited toolkit for artists and freelancers when asked to work for nothing!

Story time! When I started freelancing 14 years ago ("takes a moment to feel old!") I had a rather big problem. As a self-taught artist, I didn't have a good base in anatomy or character design. I could draw faces and expressions quite well, but drawing bodies was a challenge that often ended in a sad "uncanny valley" horror show! My solution was a simple "Peg Character" as I called them. Simple bodies with big heads. Over time, clients came to specifically request these characters as they were cute and easily recognizable. Moral: Creativity is best employed as a bridge over your limitations.#innovation #digitalmarketing #motivation #creativity #design #personalbranding #education #productivity

This must be an Avid Media Composer user! 😂☠️⚰️Are you an Editor or a Graphic Artist? 🤔Are you aware that those are two entirely different skill sets? 😂🤦♂️Sure, they'll give you a raise so they can pay you HALF of what they would pay their Graphic Artist to do. 🤷♂️Also, what you "feel like" you should be making is entirely irrelevant because you're going to MAKE the amount of money your client decides to allocate to your position.$114,000 is $456/day, assuming 50 weeks at 40 hours per week. What are you complaining about? 🤔Is your Burn Rate higher than $500/day? 😂💸💸💸Either accept your position in life or waste your time learning more software so you can do your client the favor of firing their current Graphic Artist.

The joy of being freelance is that I can work anywhere there is an internet connection, sometimes that means working from the beach (OK once, I've done that once - but I talk about it A LOT!) but mostly it means moving the laptop around various places in my house and maybe venturing to the nearest place that has free wi-fi and sells drinks. Here are my top eight places to get some design and illustration work done. Confession, the sofa features far more than I would like to admit! Can you spot all the details in the illustrations, such as my favourite pub snack, distraction from work and current top TV show?#freelance #illustration #design

Storyboard Artist

One of the main complaints I hear from my clients about other freelance storyboard artists is that they are unreliable. It's frustrating, right? It often stems from two things:1: Poor time management2: Poor communicationA lot of people were never taught how to do these things, and some don't think they need to learn how. These are things I taught myself early on in my career to ensure that I am a reliable artist for my clients. - Maintain a routine. - Don't overbook. - Stay in frequent communication.- Don't be afraid to ask questions, but also know when to just figure it out on my own. - When I say I'll do something, I DO IT. Being reliable is easy when you're committed to what you're doing. It's how I've successfully managed to run my business as a freelance artist for over a decade. If you need a storyboard artist I am here for you! Message me and we'll chat :)

When you drive by an unknown house in your neighborhood and see one of your licensed designs on display... it makes you get out of the car and take a quick pic! I always love seeing my work in use... whether it's a large project or a small one like a garden flag. It never gets old. Have a great weekend everyone!#opentowork#freelancedesigner#productdesign#freelance#licensing#licensedart#surfacedesign#surfacedesigner#artlicensing#art#marketing
