Lakeshore Public Media kicks off its "Gamenight" show covering prep football Friday but is discontinuing its television high school football show on Lakeshore PBS.

Merrillville-based Lakeshore Public Radio, Northwest Indiana's National Public Radio affiliate, will run the show at 6 p.m. on Friday nights. The live show will cover the Friday Night Lights of high school football across the Calumet Region with highlights, live scores, interviews and analysis.

"We are excited to kick off a new season of ‘Gamenight,’ bringing the best of Northwest Indiana high school football to our community. We're working behind the scenes to introduce new segments and expand coverage to ensure our viewers and listeners stay connected to the action on and off the field. ‘Gamenight’ continues to embody Lakeshore Public Media's mission of being the trusted local source with a commitment to providing comprehensive, up-to-date information. We take pride in curating engaging content that unites our community; giving everyone a reason to cheer," said Chuck Roberts, president and CEO of Lakeshore Public Media.

"Gamenight" runs from 6-10 p.m. on 89.1 FM and can also be livestreamed on the Lakeshore PBS Video App, YouTube, Facebook and LakeshorePublicMedia.org.

“For the past 15 seasons, 'Gamenight' has highlighted student athletes and their successes on the field. As we kick-off our 16th season of coverage, our team is growing, as we continue to highlight those successes,” said Tom Maloney, Lakeshore's vice president.

Ben Kolodzinski, Wayne Svetanoff, and Andrew Johnson will host the show with the help of correspondents. It offers live reporting and interviews from the Duneland, Northwest Crossroads, Greater Southshore, and Great Lakes athletic conferences.

A segment is planned to memorialize longtime host Tommy Williams, who died in March. The show added “Chuck Demoss’ Player of the Week” last year to memorialized the late, longtime correspondent Chuck Demoss. His son Casey Demoss joined the ranks of correspondents to honor his father’s legacy this season.

Lakeshore Public Media is now broadcasting video simulcasts of the show online and is discontinuing “Lakeshore PBS Scoreboard,” the half hour prep football television broadcast.
